An electrical refresher course is perfect for licensed electricians who’ve been away from the tools for a while and want to rebuild their confidence and get back up to speed.
It’s also a smart move for tradies who want to stay on top of the latest updates to AS/NZS 3000 and meet current state requirements, including those set by the Electrical safety regulator Queensland.
If you qualified overseas, a refresher could help you understand how Australian systems work, from MEN arrangements to local testing procedures.
Contractors and business owners can use it to minimise risk, tighten up documentation, and protect their licence.
Apprentices heading toward Capstone can sharpen their fault-finding and testing skills, while electricians moving into solar, battery, or inverter work can make sure they’re working safely and compliantly.

COURSE OVERVIEW
The course includes the latest updates to AS/NZS 3000 and current compliance requirements for the state, along with guidance aligned with the Electrical Safety regulator Queensland.
It revisits safe work practices, isolation procedures, and risk management strategies.
Participants will review mandatory testing and verification processes, including the proper use of testing instruments.
The training also enhances fault-finding skills and reinforces correct practices for Multiple Earthed Neutral (MEN), earthing, and bonding.

INTAKE DATES
Option 1: In-class Training – Starts Every 1st Monday of the month (Subject to availability).
Option 2: Hybrid Training – Ongoing, enrol and start online theory any time.
DELIVERY OF COMPETENCIES
Option 1: In-class Training – Theory with practicals (self-paced).
Option 2: Hybrid Training – Self-paced theory to be completed online and practical to be completed in class.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
In order to enrol in this Electrical Refresher course you must have:
- Computer Literacy
- Access to personal laptop/desktop with a webcam (Company laptops with firewalls may not work)
- Reliable internet connection
- Headset for video conferencing and video lectures (Headset = Mic + Speakers)
- You will need a Gmail account to gain access to Google Drive to participate in this course
- A Valid Photo ID (e.g. Drivers licence)
- Australian Passport /Birth Certificate / Medicare Card
- Protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
- 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing required for all practicals
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as used gloves and safety glasses can be borrowed
- Students must demonstrate appropriate language, literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge to undertake a course at this level.
- One must be physically fit to enrol into this course as it involves the use of tools, ladders, step ladders, use of harness and maneuvering through tight spaces and working outdoors.

BOOKS REQUIRED
A soft copy of the learner resource book or lecture notes is free, and we will provide it as a Google Drive link only and not as a PDF.
If you require a hard copy, a printing charge of $150 for each copy and a $100 binding charge per copy will be collected from the student.
Australian standards cannot be printed due to copyright restrictions but are available for borrowing for the duration of the course with a refundable deposit of $250 per copy. Soft copies are free to use on Ausinet laptops while in class.

You will need to bring :
- A wired headset or headphones
- A laptop
- A pen and notepad
You will also need to have an email address and a reliable internet connection in order to use our online LMS platform if you are doing some parts of the course online.
Enclosed footwear must be worn at all times when you are on the premises.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO DO YOUR ELECTRICAL REFRESHER
How often do I need to do my Electrical Refresher course?
There is no requirement by the electrical regulator but employers may have specific requirements for their electricians.
According to the Australian Standards, “Appropriate continuing education or training shall be undertaken by personnel on a regular basis”.
